Exploring Historic Fredericksburg
Location
With over 100 vineyards and beautiful wineries in the area, it's no wonder that Fredericksburg area wine tours are a top attraction for travelers. Our popular grapes are those grown in the European regions of Tuscany Italy, Provence, and France, as well as Spanish and Portuguese varietals. These include Viognier, Tempranillo, Mouvedre, Marsanne, Rousanne and Malbec. The Texas Hill Country is also becoming famous for its blends. History buffs have plenty to explore in small-town Fredericksburg. Founded by German immigrants in 1846, you'll see the German influence in the architecture, culture, and food. Fredericksburg Texas is one of the few remaining present day German cultural communities in the US. The 36th President of the United States was born and raised here, and the Lyndon B Johnson National and State historical parks are dedicated to the preservation of early Texas life as they offer a look at the life and times of LBJ and his wife Lady Bird Johnson.

Save our Wineries
Save our Wineries
Save Texas Wineries Fredericksburg Tours LLC is working to #SaveTexasWineries Texas wineries are facing a crisis. For the second time this year, tasting rooms have been shut down by executive orders of the Governor. Tasting rooms are a significant source of income and marketing opportunities for Texas wineries and many wineries will not be able to sustain a prolonged shutdown. This is having a real impact on the lives of winery owners, employees, farmers, and various other businesses dependent on the Texas wine industry. Just as important, it’s affecting your ability to enjoy the wine and wineries you’ve come to love! So How Can You Help? DONATE now by contributing through your favorite winery or related organization. We recommend at least a $50 donation (roughly the cost of a nice bottle of wine) to help us raise awareness and Save Texas Wineries. Also, if you donate at least $50, you have the option of receiving our Save Texas Wineries t-shirt! ADVOCATE after donating. You’ll be given instructions to write a letter of support to your state elected officials with the click of a button. It takes less than two minutes to complete and it does make a difference! FOLLOW AND SHARE your support on social media by liking Save Texas Wineries on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. We need as much social media activity as possible so please use the hashtag #SaveTexasWineries and Like, Comment, and Share posts about this effort from your favorite winery. Texas wineries have a direct and indirect economic impact of close to $15 billion to the state of Texas every year, including over $1 billion paid in state and local taxes. Absolutely fantastic tour. Dave did an amazing job as our tour guide. He was extremely knowledgeable and made it a lot of fun. Took us to many unique places off the beaten path. At one point, in a small chapel, he even played Amazing Grace on the antique organ. I would rate this the best city tour that we have ever taken. Highly recommend this tour.

Our tour of 11, had 3 different groups of friends that didn’t know each other. From the first pickup our tour guide, Michelle was an excellent team builder, leader and teacher. Our second stop, William Chris, was difficult due to rain and seating issues by the winery. Michelle pulled it all together like a pro and made a frustrating situation manageable. Our third and last stop, Meierstone was the best! Thanks to Michelle, Our group bonded into a family,

Excellent tour. Dave was very knowledgeable and sincerely enthusiastic about the history of Fredericksburg and the Germans in Texas. His training and experience as a national parks ranger shows. We (who live nearby) enjoyed learning the area's history and our friends from Colorado enjoyed learning about a slice of American history that was unknown to them.

Michelle was a great tour guide. The pacing was good between wineries. We really enjoyed the first 2 but could have done without the last one. The owner was very nice but we were confused with too many options for wine with little explanations.

A1 experience! David went above and beyond being a driver and narrator. His deep sense of appreciation for history, family and community is clearly evident in his delivery. There were only 8 of us on the tour and, for the entire two hours, he made it a point to answer all of our questions with enthusiasm and kept us engaged. We even got to get off the bus and tour a small church where he played Amazing Grace on the organ for us! We also got to stretch our legs and tour the inside of St Mary’s Catholic Church. David’s experience as a Ranger with the National Park Service shone through and made this fellow “parky” proud. I highly recommend this tour to anyone who feels it is important to connect to our past and who wants to be immersed in the heart and soul of the amazing town of Fredericksburg, Texas!

If you only have time for one tour this is the one.Leaves from the Visitors Center in Fredericksburg and the driver will give you all the history of early Fredericksburg and it is fascinating.TIPSSuper, Super crowded in town starting May through September and gets very hot. Pick another time to go.And no matter what time you go do not even try for a parking space on Main Street. Go to the streets behind paralleling Main Street

Our Fredericksburg Historic District tour with guide, Dave, was wonderful, thanks to his extensive knowledge of the town's history, architecture, and obvious passion for sharing this information. The day was beautiful, the Trolley was nice and comfortable, and the two-hour tour went by quickly as Dave kept us entertained with interesting information and stories from the past, accompanied by photos and stops along the way to point out various historic sites, architecture and the location of important events. Our group of four loved the tour and all left with a much better understanding of the town and the German immigrants who built it. Highly recommended tour!

Having visited Fredericksburg several times over the last five years, after moving to Austin from Miami, we thought we knew the place. Turns out that the small city is a great deal more than Main Street and the Museum of the Pacific. Thanks to this fascinating tour, whose two hours went by like a flash, we learned of the German immigrants who made their way to Central Texas and founded founded a village, seeking freedom and fleeing oppression

Our tour experience was amazing! Our driver, Kit, was super sweet and knowledgeable. My friends and I went on this tour in August which means it was unbearably hot outside but our ride on the Sprinter was comfortable and the AC was pumping! All 3 wineries (Blumenthal Farms, Barelle Vineyeards, & Texas Wine Collective) were a hit as well. They all offered variety which meant there was something for everyone in my group to try and enjoy. We all thoroughly enjoyed our boxed lunches as well. Book this tour if you're visiting Fredericksburg!

Our tour of historical Fredericksburg with guide Dave was outstanding. Dave had so much knowledge of the history of Fredericksburg which revealed his own enthusiasm for the area. Our visit to the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church and the testimony told by Gary about his family's commitment to preservation were touching and critical to understanding the history of Fredericksburg and the early German settlers. Bravo to the Fredericksburg community for maintaining and honoring its past through architecture and culture.

Not a lot to see that you can't see on your own BUT the tour guide's enthusiastic and well informed stories, history, explanation about what we saw, etc. was fantastic, which made the tour well worth the time. After the tour I now see the town in a different, more informed and appreciative light. The stop at the Christian Methodist Episcopal African American church was a highlight made more special by meeting the grandson of the minister, who has lovingly restored the church.

Greatly appreciate Walter, our tour guide. He was kind, attentive, and full of local information. As promised, we were taken to three wineries where a wine tastings were ready for us to experience. My wife and and I fell in love with Untamed Winery and made the decision to become members. We have been to many tours but Luis really set himself apart. You could definitely tell he had a passion for his role within the company. He gave us a thorough education and a great tour of the property. Plus we were able to taste the wine right out of the barrel. We are actually going back today to taste their award winning pizza! The rest of the party on the bus were all fun. We made great friends with one of the couples and ended up having dinner with them later that evening. I can say that this tour definitely gave us a great memory to remember! Highly recommend!
